about

It was inevitable that I’d get a Theremin but unexpected that a Hammond organ would come my way.

"Kathy Newman Freakout!" is named for the apparent previous owner of my copy of The Mothers of Invention's FREAK OUT. It primarily employs the sound of a washing machine at the laundromat and online synthesizer. I added a touch of xylophone, just like Zappa would.

"All My Monotonies" pits a 1958 Hammond M-100 against the tag team of GarageBand woodwinds and "electronic monotony" recordings. All my favorite things.

"I See the Problem" is a collage of chunks from a Facebook live session in the studio with theremin, organ and loop pedal.

“(Here Come) Radio Astronomers” is about my childhood dream of being a radio astronomer, having read about it in our World Book encyclopedia. The Theremin part represents giant dish telescopes turning toward a pulsing celestial mystery. The organ part represents how much I love Garth Hudson of the Band.
